If sweet sneaker styles in shades of baby pink and watermelon sit on one end of the spectrum, then this season’s obsession with chunky, oversized sneakers sit on the other. Popularised by brands like Chloe, Valentino and Sandro, and loved by style-makers like Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski, these shapes are unapologetic statement-makers, and look just as great with baggy, oversized tailoring as they do contrasted with feminine elements, like a voluminous poplin dress or simple printed slip.

Our beloved Havianas and pool slides will always have a special place in our hearts – and summer wardrobes. But this season they are facing serious competition from an influx of elevated takes on the traditional flip flop. From Tony Bianco at David Jones you’ll find chunky platform soles and statement-making wide straps. At Jimmy Choo, a delicate wrap sandal in black leather is accentuated with eye-catching gold hardware. And at Jo Mercer, the divisive ‘thong sandal’ is officially back, and chicer than ever in vibrant white.

Looking for the perfect party shoe this season? Look no further. The slingback is the undisputed ‘heel’ of the season, thanks to nods on the runway from Miu Miu and Chanel. Valentino’s VLogo and Rockstud iterations are investment pieces you’ll keep and wear for life, while Alias Mae – available at David Jones – are offering patent leather kitten heels with interwoven buckle detailing.
